I’m from the Berkshire region of western Massachusetts. I grew up in the world of construction—my father was an architect and a contractor, my mother a realtor, and I was surrounded by workers and tools, and houses needing work. I even grew up in a barn (no timbers though)! Read More »

While not a timber framer, Grigg has been in, around, and involved with the Guild for most of his life: he attended his first conference in 1996 and has missed very few since. As a machinist, he works with his hands and excels at solving problems but says he prefers materials “more dimensionally stable than wood.” Read More »

I grew up in the Hudson River Valley in New York with aspirations of being an architect, tirelessly obsessed with Lincoln Logs and Knex projects. I went on to study structural engineering in college, but yearned to also work with my hands and feel those calculations embodied in a material form. Read More »

I live in Central New York, building and designing custom timber frames and working on old houses in the area. But I began my timber framing career on a handshake in the driveway of a project that was wrapping in western Washington - from there I learned and grew, graduated from the ATP, and became a journeyworker.
